Himachal Pradesh is a famous state of India. It holds a rich history. Although, the history dates back to first human civilization. It all began by Indus Valley Civilization, where actual communities came into existence.

Himachal history holds names of two mythological Epic stories of Hinduism. Mahabharata and Ramayana, holds characters; who lived in Himachal Pradesh. They constructed some of the famous statues in Himachal Pradesh.
British history of Himachal Pradesh
It was in the middle of 19th century, when Britishers took control, in some of the parts of Himachal Pradesh. They annexed Kangra district. Kangra district included Kullu, Kangra, Hamirpur and lahaul and Spiti; districts of present Himachal Pradesh. Rest of the Himachal Pradesh, was ruled by princely states; by Indian Kings. Britishers annexed Kangra region, came under Punjab province of Britishers; other parts came under Shimla hill States. Shimla was the summer capital of India. This is depicted even today, as major British departments remains, have become heritage places in Shimla.
Himachal Pradesh after independence
Soon after the Independence, Himachal Pradesh was under the control of center. Himachal Pradesh was Union Territory of India. Later, in 1971, Himachal Pradesh was recognized, as full state of Indian Republic. It was January 25, 1971 exactly. 12 districts were formed in 1972. The 12 districts of Himachal Pradesh are Bilaspur, Chamba, Hamirpur, Kangra, Kinnaur, Kullu, Lahaul and Spiti, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmour, Solan and Una.
