Shri Naina Devi Ji temple is located on the hill top, in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh. It is one of the 51 Shakti-Peeths. This is the place where eyes of Mata / Goddess Sati fell. The legend says, in order to save the Earth from Lord Shiva's anger; Lord Vishnu cut her body into 51 pieces and her eyes fell to this place. Therefore, the name emerged as, "Shri Naina Devi Ji Temple". Every famous temple in India has a historic significance, which is proved by the number of devotees visiting to the temples. Mata Durga is the extreme form, of female goddess form. A large crowd of people visit the temple, during the year; especially, during Navratras, Shravan Ashtam etc. These are special days dedicated to Mata Durga in Hinduism.
History of shri Naina Devi Ji Temple
We have already told the legend behind, the Shree Naina Devi Ji Temple. Later, it was built by Raja / King Bir Chand in the period of 8th century A.D. It is believed, that he found image of Mata Durga, at the top of the hill; where he built the temple. It is a fine work of marble stone. A special dedicated fair is celebrated during, Mata Durga special days. People from the globe, visit the temple during the special occasions.

How to reach Shri Naina Devi Ji Temple Bilaspur
Roadways: Taxi service, as well as, state run buses are available from cities of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. It is connected by national highway number 21.
Railways: Nearest rail-head is Chandigarh about hundred kilometre.
Airways: Chandigarh is the nearest railway station.
Apart from these, many people tend to reach; the top of a hill walking. But, for those people who couldn't make it bare foot, can hire Palkis (people lifting you on back). It is merely at half an hour distance. Proper facilities are there for resting etc. So, have an awesome visit to the temple; reach your destination, chanting the name of the Goddess.
