Dalhousie was named after, British Governor General, Lord Dalhousie in 1854.

Dalhousie is also known as, gateway to Chamba district. This was developed as, Summer Retreat by Britishers. This place has been built over five different Hills. Therefore, you can well assume, different destinations; that vary in many flavors, over a small distance. Very true to this logic, this place does have a number of different destinations, to be visited. The place goes for an area of 13 kilometer square. Dalhousie is a hub of churches. Some of the famous churches in Dalhousie are St. Andrews, St. Patrick's, St. Francis and St. Johns Church. The architecture built-up, of these churches, is awesome. Apart from these churches, you can take part in, adventure sports activities. There is a Museum named as Bhuri Singh Museum, which was constructed in 1908. This Museum is also visited by many people throughout the year. The name was dedicated to Raja / King Puri, who was an art lover. You can find all the ancient information, about Chamba at this museum. The picture painting in Sarda script, depicts the culture of Chamba; in ancient times. After reading all this stuff, you may visit Rang Mahal. It was constructed by King / Raja Umed Singh. This Mahal follows, British and Mughal style of architecture. The wall contains paintings of Lord Krishna, in Punjabi style.
