Chhinnamastika Godess Temple

Chintpurni or Chhinnamastika Godess / Devi Temple is located at  980 m above mean sea level. It is exactly 33(thirty-three) km from district Una of Himachal Pradesh. This temple is dedicated to two goddesses namely; Godess Shri Chhinnamastika Devi and Godess Chintpurni Devi.
Mata is a synonym for Godess in Hindi 
People visit to this temple to remove their hectic life and problems. There are 51 Shakti Peeths in India. Chintpurni/Chhinnamastika is one of them. Chinnamastika is a Sanskrit (language) word, which means Mata without head. The legend says that mata made herself known to a devotee named Mayi Das. You can watch image of Devi without head. When to visit Chintpurni / Chhinnamastika Godess/Devi Temple

It is believed that if someone visits the temple in Navratris held in April and October; it's most likely that your wish gets granted. Navratris refers to the 9 days of Mata. the other special day to visit is Shukalpaksh in August. These are days when you encounter maximum number of people praying to overcome their sorrows.

Important Festivals of Chintpurni Temple

Festivals are almost celebrated in every temple in Himachal Pradesh. If you wish to visit the fair, the best time would be between July and August . Sawan Ashtami Fair is celebrated for 10 days that goes for whole 10 days of Sawan Ashtami period. As mentioned earlier, you'll encounter a huge crowd in this period.

Geography of Chintpurni Temple

Mata Chintpurni temple is at 980 m above mean sea level. It is based on Sola Singi range. The timings of the Chintpurni temple is from 4 am to 11 pm, You'll have to walk 500 m above the gentle slope. The path is surrounded by dense market. Round Stone depicts Mata Chintpurni Devi place in Garbha Griha which is at the centre of main temple. This round stone is what we mentioned as, "Pindi" above. You'll have to stand in queue in order to have glance of this Pindi and offer your prayers to Mata.

How to reach Chintpurni Temple

Roadways: Buses and Taxis are available from Jwalamukhi which is 35 km away from temple.
Railways: Hoshiarpur is nearest rail-head which is 40 km away.
Airways: Gaggal Airport in Kangra is nearest (60 km).
